Ylath, sometimes also called Sylath, is the silvery-white Dragon of Air, one of the six elemental dragons created by Asha at the dawn of time.

CharacterEdit

He is known as the Keeper of Secrets, for this mighty dragon sees and hears all. His only weakness is unnecessary complexity in all he thinks and does, which leaves him frustrated and makes him condescending to his fellow elemental dragons.

Young and impetuous, the Dragon of Air is the seeker of hazardous knowledge, of crafts that are handed down by the shortlived humans from father to child, of myriad facts about the world which he views from on high. Like the wind, he travels everywhere to collect all the sights and sounds he can pick on his way.

Ylath never asked to be worshipped. His only commandment is that his followers should explore, learn, and enjoy all things in life, but mostly, that they should do as they wish, as long as they respect and honour the world that the Dragons created (this point being the crucial line drawn between Ylath and Urgash).

HistoryEdit

In the dawn of time, Ylath chose the humans, the youngest and most curious race as his own. When the Falcon Empire was founded by Ronan the Great, Sylath was its primary deity. However, its time of worship was short-lived though. After the Wars of Fire in 28-40 YSD, Angels, who are the servants of Elrath, came to seek shelter in the empire, and this heralded a religious change to come. In 48 YSD emperor Brian Falcon gave absolute power to the Church of the Dragon of Light, and his empire was renamed the Holy Falcon Empire.

However, Ylath is still very popular among the nomad barbarian tribes that roam the vast territories stretching beyond the Empire, and by some inhabitants of the Free Cities to the east. He is also honored by the travelers, bards, and spies, by the mummers, courtiers, rakes and thieves, and even by some Wizards (for his extensive arcane knowledge but also his tendency to make even the simpler facts appear “hermetic”). Also, despite being no longer the center of worship in the empire, Ylath is still honored by some of its Dukes and nobles.
