"We now know how Erathia fell to Nighon and Eeofol. Through an extensive network of underground tunnels dug by the Overlord’s armies, they struck simultaneously in many areas with overwhelming numbers. Credit the military for holding the invasion to half the country. We have discovered the main artery for transporting forces from Nighon to Erathia; it is under the ocean, connecting the Nighon underworld to the Erathian mainland. Bracada and Avlee have sent armies to join the fight. First we must eliminate the remaining Kreegans and Nighon forces from the mainland, then pursue them underground, and drive them back to the shores of Nighon."

Tunnels and Troglodytes is the final scenario of the Liberation campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia.
Walkthrough[]
To win, you must capture all enemy towns and castles and defeat all enemy heroes. Some Border Guards can only be passed if a Hero carries a Quest Artifact from a previous scenario, but the reward is great indeed.OffBck
The heroes came to eastern Erathia, where they face the Dungeon Overlords of Nighon. With many Dungeons under the sea, this will prove no simple and easy task to defeat them. All five Dungeons need to be captured and the enemy's heroes defeated. There is also the possibility to travel by boat to the east, where the entrances to the enemy's Dungeons lie.
Two Quest Guards are near the starting Rampart, one requesting a Speculum (found in "Neutral Affairs") and the other requesting a Spyglass (found in "Deal With the Devil"). Which one the player can unlock depends on whether "Neutral Affairs" or "Deal With the Devil" was played first, and determines whether they will reach the Sentinel's Shield or the Thunder Helmet.
Once all enemy's heroes are defeated and towns captured, Erathia is restored, though a new threat comes.

Notes[]
This scenario is only available by completing both "Neutral Affairs" and "Deal With the Devil" scenarios.
Due to a bug in all versions of "Neutral Affairs" postdating the original Restoration of Erathia release (including Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete), the Speculum cannot be carried into this scenario, leaving one of the quest guards impassable. Curiously, all of the newer versions also switch this particular quest guard's reward from the Sentinel's Shield to the Thunder Helmet.
Strategy[]
Like previous scenarios, the enemy will likely build a massive army. Fortunately, it will take months for them to pose a real threat, considering the size of the map. One could send two forces to attack the nearest Dungeon towns, while a third force may cross the sea and surprise the enemy from behind. Beware that there is a One-Way Monolith on the eastern island that connects to the western island, near the Castle. If the enemy still has a large army, combining armies should take care of the threat.
