A reaver has permanent bloodlust cast upon them, giving a +25% bonus to melee damage.
The Reaver is most likely to learn Tactics and Death Magic and fairly likely to learn the Chaos magic skill. Reavers cannot learn Life Magic or Nature Magic when leveling up unless some basic training in those skills is already known.
While Bloodlust is a good spell, sending the hero into melee is a bad idea without the Combat skill. Otherwise, the bonus is almost useless, and the hero should stay back and use their Death magic.
