The Pit Spawn's sword is cast from a band of tempered iron. This weapon provides its wielder with a serpent-like flexibility and alacrity, and in battle it strives to slice and sear as many opponents as it can.OffBck

The pit spawn is the alternative upgrade of the pit fiend, the sixth-level creature in Heroes of Might and Magic V.

Unlike the pit lord, the pit spawn has no spells and lacks the Vorpal Sword ability, but has 2 more speed, 5 more attack, 1 more defense, 20 more health, 1 more initiative, and is resistant to magic. Its main selling point is Blade of Slaughter, which can let them utterly eviscerate stacks of low-tier units like peasants or goblins with even a small number of pit spawns. If you split the pit spawns into multiple stacks and have them gang up on a single low-level stack, Blade of Slaughter will wipe the enemy out very quickly.

If you are facing pit spawns, do not try to take them on with low-level creatures; use high-level creatures instead, as Blade of Slaughter will do little damage in such a fight.

Abilities[]

  • Demonic - This creature belongs to Inferno. The Chain shot (Succubus Mistress ability) does not affect it but it is vulnerable to Word of Light spell.
  • Blade of Slaughter - Deals additional damage (+2 damage per creature in the target stack). The +2 damage bonus is added after all the multiplying bonuses.
  • Large Creature - This creature is bigger than others and occupies four squares on the field. This creature takes 2x2 squares on the battlefield.
  • Magic-proof 50% - Attacking spells inflict 50% less damage to this creature.
