"Having aquired four of Nevar's artifacts, Bohb now travels to the Mire of the Dead to face the Dark Lord Cardonis for the Staff of Disruption and finally finish his quest. Cardonis however, has tracked Bohb's progress with interest, and now plans to complete the set of Nevar's artifacts for himself."

Mire of the Dead is the fifth and last scenario in the Masters of Magic campaign in The Gathering Storm.

"Bohb must now face his final opponent, the Dark Lord Cardonis for the Staff of Disruption, the last of Nevar's artifacts. Cardonis, however, would love nothing more to complete the artifact set for himself and is busily planning a way to wrest the four artifacts from Bohb."

As he entered the Mire of the Dead, Bohb soon found himself face to face with the Dark Lord Cardonis himself. After a mighty duel of magic, Bohb defeated him and claimed the Staff of Disruption, finally completing the set of Nevar's artifacts so he could head back and prepare for the final fight against Hexis.

Strategy[]

Bohb starts in the west with an Asylum town, and three neutral ones nearby. A large force of bone dragons block the way east, where Cardonis soon controls five Necropolises.

South-east of the closest Necropolis, there's a gate leading to the College of Death magic. After getting his new levels, Bohb should build up his towns. An army of Asylum creatures led by a Academy Mage will have poor morale, but Mass fervor should solve that.

Cardonis is powerful, and his Hand of Death spell can be dangerous, eliminating Bohb in a single round. If this becomes a problem, Anti-Magic will protect Bohb, and any creature he wishes, from all spells. Cardonis's Neener's Invulnerable Cloak will protect him from Bohb's spells, but his defense is very poor.
