"We have come far very quickly. Armies from Erathia and AvLee have arrived to 'restore order.' This jeopardizes our quest for independence, and such hostile elements could ignite a larger war. It is our duty to establish Welnin as the capitol of the Contested Lands and the drive rule of Erathia and AvLee from this territory. If we do not, we will lose all we have fought for and two great nations may once again re-enact the carnage of the Timber Wars. Today we declare our independence from the nations of Erathia and AvLee."
Independence is the third and final scenario of the campaign Seeds of Discontent in Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia.
Walkthrough[]
To win, you must build a Capitol in the town of Welnin. Only then will the Contested Lands be free!OffBck
The step to indepedence is close. The only thing left to do is to build Capitol in Welnin as a final act. However, forces of Erathia and AvLee still stand in the way. Furthermore, suspicious strangers are also starting to wreck the caravans, exhausting wood and gold. At the beginning, 20 wood is being removed, while from day four, additional wood is being taken and on next day gold as well. From day six, each day one wood and 3500 gold will be removed. In addition, there are no sawmills on the map. The bright side is Spirit Guardian is built in Welnin and brings 5000 gold each day.
Once enough resources and gold has been claimed and Capitol is built in Welnin, the Claimed Lands are finally independent.

Notes[]
This is also the final Heroes III campaign. The story continues in Armageddon's Blade expansion pack.
Strategy[]
If played correctly, this scenario can be won in a week without encountering the enemy forces. If 12 wood is picked as a bonus, two of the buildings, Marketplace, Mage guild level 1 or blacksmith must be immediately purchased. If fast enough, the hero can gather three wood in the area to build the final building requiring City Hall. Then, Village Hall can be upgraded and Citadel can be bought. Ore will have to be found, though it is just north of the town. As a last step, all resources can be traded for wood for Castle to be built, and Capitol as well.
Bugs[]
There are two Welnin towns on the map. However, only the starting town can only have the Capitol.
