To locate the Grail, the player must visit obelisks on the map to reveal the puzzle map. The more obelisks visited the more the puzzle map is revealed. Number of obelisk will change from map to map. Then the player must dig for the grail.
This artifact was first used in Heroes III as both a quest objective and an artifact that can be delivered to a town to increase the town's income by 5000 gold per day, and the town's monster production by 50%, as well as some extra bonuses depending on the town.
In Heroes IV, the bonuses are similar, but the obelisks were replaced by oracles (usually gold oracles reveal the location).
In Heroes VII, the Grail appears exclusively in Lost Tales of Axeoth campaigns, where it replaces the Tear of Asha. Functionaly it is identical to Tear of Asha.
