The Forest is one of the four factions present in Heroes of Might and Magic I. It is a Magic faction, and has good ranged creatures but is a bit slow on building hierarchy. The Forest hero is the Sorceress, a lady of magic that moves twice as far across water.
In the campaign, choosing Queen Lamanda will cause the player to begin all scenarios with Forest castles. This faction also appears in the game's sequel, Heroes of Might and Magic II, where it is reimagined as the Sorceress faction.

- Treehouse (produces 8 Sprites per week)
- Cottage (produces 6 Dwarves per week)
- Archery Range (produces 4 Elves per week)
- Stonehenge (produces 3 Druids per week)
- Fenced Meadow (produces 2 Unicorns per week)
- Red Tower (produces 1 Phoenix per week)
The Treehouse is required for all other buildings. The Cottage requires the Tavern to be built. All other creature dwellings, with the exception of the Archery Range, need the previous building to be built first, and the Stonehenge requires a Mage Guild.
The Sorceresses are a Magic-based class, meaning they have a tendency of improving their Spell Power and Knowledge skills when leveling-up, and that they start with an empty spellbook. Sorceresses normally begin scenarios with 3 points invested in the Knowledge Skill, 2 points in the Spell Power Skill, and no points in Attack or Defense. Like the other classes in the game, Sorceresses have a special ability: they can travel twice as far when embarked on a ship. This ability is worthless on maps without access to boats but extremely useful on those water-based maps; Sorceresses can use the extra movement to conduct raids on enemy shores or intercept hostile ships before they can land.
