These are the spells available in Crusaders of Might and Magic.

PC version[]

All spells have three levels. New levels are unlocked by finding magic tomes. If Drake doesn't find the first tome of the spell, he will only gain the spell at first level when he finds the second tome.

Gleaming Radiance

A torch that increases in intensity and duration for each progressive spell level. Minor protective properties are also afforded while this spell is in effect.OffBck

Lights up the area around Drake, allowing him to see in the dark. Drake starts with the first level spell. He can find the second spellbook in Cador Sul after visiting the Citadel, and the third in the Corantha Mines. The manual states that it gives "minor protective properties", but this does not actually happen in-game.

  • Phantom Glove: Lights up an an area with a radius of 15 for 80 seconds. Costs 1 spell point.
  • Torch Light: Lights up an an area with a radius of 30 for 120 seconds. Costs 2 spell points.
  • Gleaming Radiance: Lights up an an area with a radius of 50 for 180 seconds. Costs 3 spell points.

Meteor Swarm

Expels balls of flame that explore upon impact with a target, damaging all creatures within the radius of the explosion. Damage and radius increases progressively with spell level, and at level three, three fireballs can hone in on three separate targets.OffBck

Launches balls of flame that explode upon impact, dealing fire damage. It does little damage, but is cheap enough to be cast repeatedly. The first spellbook can be found in the Catacombs, the second in the Corantha Mines, and the third in the eastern parts of Stronghold.

  • Flame Strike: Throws one fireball that does 10 damage to one enemy. Costs 5 spell points.
  • Fireball: Throws one target-seeking fireball that does 12 damage to one enemy. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Meteor Swarm: Throws three target-seeking fireballs, each of which does 12 damage. Costs 15 spell points.

Might of Kings

Temporarily boosts the caster's Might attribute. This spell is most effective for melee combat, having no effect on ranged attacks and tactical spell use. With each new spell level progressively more damage is done to enemies by blows from the caster, and, after level one, the caster's speed increases progressively as well.OffBck

Temporarily increases Drake's damage and speed. This spell should be cast before entering close combat against difficult opponents. The first spellbook can be found on a dasher's body in Duskwood, the second on another dasher's body after retrieving the Horn of Shattering, and the third in The Glaciers.

  • Heroism: Gives Drake +50% damage and +10% speed for 25 seconds. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Champion's Breath: Gives Drake +100% damage and +20% speed for 35 seconds. Costs 15 spell points.
  • Might of Kings: Gives Drake +300% damage and +50% speed for 45 seconds. Costs 30 spell points.

Soul Drinker

Used to drain the life force of the target into the caster, this spell links the caster's essence with that of the target. This can create potentially undesirable effects if the enemy targeted has no life essence to drain. When used properly, the target is weakened while the caster's hit points are restored proportionally.OffBck

Drain's an enemy's hit points and gives them to Drake. If cast on an undead creature, it works the other way around. The first spellbook can be found on an ogre's body in Duskwood, the second on the road to the western part of Stronghold before delivering the Horn of Shattering, and the third on the body of a shadow in The Glaciers.

  • Life Leech: Drains 15 hit points at a range of 10. Costs 15 spell points.
  • Essence Drain: Drains 25 hit points at a range of 30. Costs 35 spell points.
  • Soul Drinker: Drains 45 hit points at a range of 60. Costs 50 spell points.

Temporal Shift

Using this spell causes a slowing of time to occur for all affected creatures. The caster, unaffected by the spell, moves at regular speed.OffBck

Slows down enemies to 30% of normal speed for 30 seconds, allowing Drake to finish them off or run away. The first spellbook can be found in Cador Sul before delivering the Horn of Shattering, the second in The Glaciers, and the third in Corantha before delivering Ursan's scroll to Dain.

  • Slow: Slows down a single target. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Mass Slow: Slows down all nearby targets. Costs 20 spell points.
  • Temporal Shift: Slows down the entire world. Costs 40 spell points.

Spectral Champion

Creates a magical weapon and shield that temporarily acts as an independent ally, attacking any enemy which attempts to engage the caster. This spell allows the caster to retreat a short distance to concentrate on casting further spells or use range weapons unimpeded by enemy attack.OffBck

Summons a ghostly ally to aid in combat, dealing damage and keeping enemies from attacking Drake. The first spellbook can be found in the Citadel after delivering the Horn of Shattering, the second in the Catacombs after delivering the Horn of Shattering, and the third in Duskwood after befriending the dashers.

  • Spectral Ally: Summons an ally with the same might and speed as Drake, armed with a basic sword and shield, for 20 seconds. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Spectral Hero: Summons an ally with the same might and speed as Drake, basic sword and shield, and the effect of Heroism 1, for 30 seconds. Costs 20 spell points.
  • Spectral Champion: Summons an ally with the same might and speed as Drake, and the greatest weapons Drake has found, for 40 seconds. Note that the ally doesn't have the effect of Heroism. Costs 40 spell points.

Marble Visage

Temporarily increasing the armour class of the caster, this spell is initially only effective against sharp and blunt weapons. The spell becomes increasingly more effective as spell level progresses, finally giving temporary invulnerability to the caster at level three.OffBck

Improves Drake's protection against most weapons. The first spellbook can be found in the Catacombs, the second in Corantha, and the third in Corantha when delivering the scroll to Dain.

  • Stone Skin: Raises Bash and Slash resistance by 50% for 20 seconds. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Granite Armour: Raises Bash, Slash, Fire, and Air resistance by 75% for 30 seconds. Costs 25 spell points.
  • Marble Visage: Provides 100% protection against all attacks for 40 seconds. Costs 40 spell points.

Chain Lightning

Arcing lances of electricity discharge from the caster's hands, electrocuting targeted enemies. Range and number of targets increases progressively as the spell increases in level.OffBck

Casts bolts of lightning at enemies. It is more destructive, but also more expensive, than the Fireball spell. The first spellbook can be found in the Corantha Mines before talking to the dwarven council, the second in the Catacombs before delivering the Horn of Shattering, and the third in the eastern part of the Stronghold when Drake is ready to attack.

  • Sparks: Does 25 damage to one enemy. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Lightning Bolt: Does 50 damage to the first enemy, and 40 damage to a nearby enemy. Costs 30 spell points.
  • Chain Lightning: Does 75 damage to the first enemy, 60 damage to the second, and 45 damage to a third. Costs 45 spell points.

Glacial Prison

Freezes a target enemy in a layer of ice, preventing it from moving (so long as it is not immune to cold). Duration of the spell increases with spell level, and eventually the target creature takes freeze damage. If unmolested or attacked by a non-lethal blow, target will thaw; however, if served with a lethal blow (or any blow if the target was already deceased), the frozen creature may shatter.OffBck

Freezes an opponent solid, preventing them from moving or attacking. The spell is broken if the victim is attacked. The first spellbook can be found in Cador Sul after delivering the Horn of Shattering, the second in The Glaciers, and the third on a dark mage's body after getting Solidify.

  • Frost Bite: Freezes an enemy for 10 seconds. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Snap Freeze: Freezes an enemy for 20 seconds. Costs 20 spell points.
  • Glacial Prison: Freezes an enemy for 30 seconds. Costs 30 spell points.

Divine Wrath

While this spell causes no damage to normal creatures it has special applications against unholy or dark magic creatures. The spell increases in power and radius as it progresses in level.OffBck

Also known as Holy Wrath, the spell damages all surrounding undead enemies. The first spellbook can be found in The Glaciers, and the second and third in the Stronghold when Drake is ready to attack. Archmages, dark masters and Necros have a version of the spell known as Unholy Wrath, which damages living things.

  • Holy Conflagration: Does 40 damage to all enemies in a radius of 20. Costs 10 spell points.
  • Fingers of Righteousness: Does 60 damage to all enemies in a radius of 30. Costs 20 spell points.
  • Divine Wrath: Does 100 damage to all enemies in a radius of 20. Costs 30 spell points.


Solidify[]

Solidify Crusaders

Also known as Revelation, this spell forces deceivers to take corporeal form, allowing their victims to attack them. It can be found in the airship in The Glaciers after Drake gets the rune. This is the only spell that cannot be upgraded. Costs 1 spell point.

All spells have five levels. New levels are unlocked by getting spell experience, which is collected by using the spell in question - so using a spell improves it.

  • Level 2 requires 40 spell experience.
  • Level 3 requires 84 spell experience.
  • Level 4 requires 136 spell experience.
  • Level 5 requires 202 spell experience.

Firestorm[]

With this aimed spell, fireballs streak from the caster's hands in rapid-fire succession, twist toward the target and then burst in a cascade of small explosions in the area around the target point.OffBck

The spell throws fireballs at enemy monsters. Each ball does 60-100 fire damage with a strength of 100 in a radius of 30 feet. Fire resistance reduces damage. The spell gives spell experience when it causes damage to a foe. Drake starts with this spell.

  • Level 1: Throws one fireball. Costs 20 spell points. Gives 4 spell experience.
  • Level 2: Throws two fireballs. Costs 35 spell points. Gives 14 spell experience.
  • Level 3: Throws three fireballs. Costs 50 spell points. Gives 30 spell experience.
  • Level 4: Throws four fireballs. Costs 65 spell points. Gives 52 spell experience.
  • Level 5: Throws five fireballs. Costs 80 spell points.


Lightning[]

This auto-targeting spell creates arcing lances of electricity which emanate from the caster's hands toward the chosen target. This spell targets progressively more creatures as you gain power.OffBck

Sends a lightning bolt at enemies that does 80-120 damage with a strength of 50. After reaching level 2, it will arc off the first target to hit additional foes, doing the same damage. If there aren't enough foes nearby, it will hit the target again. Air resistance reduces damage. The spell gives spell experience when it causes damage to a foe.

  • Level 1: Hit one target. Costs 25 spell points. Gives 5 spell experience.
  • Level 2: Hit two targets. Costs 50 spell points. Gives 20 spell experience.
  • Level 3: Hit three targets. Costs 75 spell points. Gives 45 spell experience.
  • Level 4: Hit four targets. Costs 100 spell points. Gives 88 spell experience.
  • Level 5: Hit five targets. Costs 125 spell points.


Snap Freeze[]

This is an 'Area Effect' spell centered on the caster. It freezes targets in place for a limited amount of time, rendering them helpless to attack.OffBck

Freezes all foes within range, preventing them from moving. Water resistance reduces duration. The spell gives spell experience if it freezes at least one foe.

  • Level 1: Radius of 20 feet. Lasts 8 seconds. Costs 30 spell points. Gives 6 spell experience.
  • Level 2: Radius of 25 feet. Lasts 10 seconds. Costs 40 spell points. Gives 16 spell experience.
  • Level 3: Radius of 30 feet. Lasts 12 seconds. Costs 50 spell points. Gives 30 spell experience.
  • Level 4: Radius of 35 feet. Lasts 14 seconds. Costs 60 spell points. Gives 48 spell experience.
  • Level 5: Radius of 40 feet. Lasts 16 seconds. Costs 70 spell points.


Mana Shield[]

This spell creates a magical field around the caster's shield that gives a bonus to spell effects, and additionally acts as armor against incoming spell damage. This spell can only be cast if the caster has a shield equipped, and can only be cast on the caster.OffBck

Creates a magical field around Drake's shield that increases magic resistance. Drake must have his shield equipped to use the spell. The spell gives spell experience if successfully cast.

  • Level 1: +10% resistance for 40 seconds. Costs 20 spell points. Gives 4 spell experience.
  • Level 2: +20% resistance for 45 seconds. Costs 55 spell points. Gives 22 spell experience.
  • Level 3: +30% resistance for 50 seconds. Costs 90 spell points. Gives 54 spell experience.
  • Level 4: +40% resistance for 55 seconds. Costs 125 spell points. Gives 100 spell experience.
  • Level 5: +50% resistance for 60 seconds. Costs 160 spell points.


Holy Wrath[]

While this spell causes only minor damage to normal creatures in an area of effect centered on the caster, it may have special applications against unholy or dark magic creatures.OffBck

Strikes all enemies around Drake, doing 100-150 light damage with a strength of 100 to each. Particularly effective against the undead. TThe spell gives spell experience when it causes damage to a foe.

  • Level 1: Radius of 15 feet. Lasts 0.5 seconds. Costs 50 spell points. Gives 10 spell experience.
  • Level 2: Radius of 20 feet. Lasts 0.75 seconds. Costs 70 spell points. Gives 28 spell experience.
  • Level 3: Radius of 25 feet. Lasts 1 second. Costs 90 spell points. Gives 54 spell experience.
  • Level 4: Radius of 30 feet. Lasts 1.25 seconds. Costs 110 spell points. Gives 88 spell experience.
  • Level 5: Radius of 35 feet. Lasts 1.5 seconds. Costs 130 spell points.


Heroism[]

Another spell cast only on the caster, this spell increases the caster's overall level as well as the rank of his/her weapon (whether melee or ranged). This spell does not increase spell ranks.OffBck

Raises Drake's overall experience level for 60 seconds, increasing his damage, health, and spell points (does not affect weapon or spell ranks). The spell gives spell experience if successfully cast.

  • Level 1: +1 level. Costs 30 spell points. Gives 6 spell experience.
  • Level 2: +2 levels. Costs 55 spell points. Gives 22 spell experience.
  • Level 3: +3 levels. Costs 80 spell points. Gives 48 spell experience.
  • Level 4: +4 levels. Costs 105 spell points. Gives 84 spell experience.
  • Level 5: +5 levels. Costs 130 spell points.


Regeneration[]

Regeneration Crusaders

This spell effectively speeds up the caster's rate of regeneration, causing health points to regenerate at a rapid rate over a shorter time. The spell duration is quite lengthy, but only effects the caster.OffBck

Restores 5 health per second to Drake. The spell gives spell experience if successfully cast. Drake finds this spell while fleeing from Stronghold.

  • Level 1: Lasts 30 seconds. Costs 40 spell points. Gives 8 spell experience.
  • Level 2: Lasts 35 seconds. Costs 60 spell points. Gives 24 spell experience.
  • Level 3: Lasts 40 seconds. Costs 80 spell points. Gives 48 spell experience.
  • Level 4: Lasts 45 seconds. Costs 100 spell points. Gives 80 spell experience.
  • Level 5: Lasts 50 seconds. Costs 120 spell points.


Deadly Swarm[]

In this auto-targeting spell, a swarm of insects is summoned which bites and stings all targets within a small area.OffBck

Causes 40-70 area of effect damage to a group of enemies over time. Drake cannot cast other spells while this is in effect, but he can use his weapons. Earth resistance reduces damage. The spell gives spell experience when it causes damage to a foe.

  • Level 1: Radius of 15, with a strength of 40. Lasts 6 seconds. Costs 40 spell points. Gives 8 spell experience.
  • Level 2: Radius of 20, with a strength of 45. Lasts 9 seconds. Costs 50 spell points. Gives 20 spell experience.
  • Level 3: Radius of 25, with a strength of 50. Lasts 12 seconds. Costs 60 spell points. Gives 36 spell experience.
  • Level 4: Radius of 30, with a strength of 55. Lasts 15 seconds. Costs 70 spell points. Gives 56 spell experience.
  • Level 5: Radius of 35, with a strength of 60. Lasts 18 seconds. Costs 80 spell points.
