The crusader is the upgraded sixth tier unit of the Knight faction, and is recruited through an upgraded cathedral. It is the upgraded version of the paladin.

Its speed and hit points increase from its previous version, granting it greater longevity. Its immunity to curse spells and double damage to undead makes it ideal for dealing with Necromancers. With this unit you should avoid finding fighting spell casters as a few lightning bolts are likely to blast away most of your crusaders. If you do have to fight spellcasting heroes by any chance you should try using the spell teleport to make them get into the action quicker before they all get murdered by magic. Crusaders have a decent damage output however even in close combat they are likely to be wiped out quickly. To avoid this you may use the spell blind or paralyze so that the enemy unit doesn't counterattack or counterattacks with half as much strength causing less of your crusaders to die before they attack for a second time. Casting bless on the crusaders will allow them to cause the most damage. Crusaders should be used to mainly deal with units of tier 5 or lower as many of the tier 6 units cause a lot of damage and quite a few are immune to blind and paralyze. Crusaders also probably cost a bit too much when compared to what they are capable of.
