Category:Create Creature Spells
From the Might and Magic Wiki - Might and Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic, King's Bounty
These are spells which create creatures during a battle. The creatures act as normal creatures in almost all respects - they can be affected by spells and have all special and spellcasting abilities they would normally have - but they disappear at the end of the battle. There are three categories of create creatures spells, Raise, Illusion and Summon spells.
All magically created creatures can be Banished, but not at the expense of a hero who possesses the Ring of Permanence.
If all of a player's regular heroes and creatures are destroyed, but some created creatures remain, the battle will continue. If the player with only magical creatures wins then both players lose the battle.
[edit] Summoning Spells
Summoning Spells call creatures into being during battle. Save that they are subject to being Banished and vanish after the battle ends, summoned creatures are treated like real creatures in every respect. They can use any spells such creatures normally possess and be affected by any spells that could normally affect them. They do not affect the Morale of existing creatures. Casting the same spell multiple times will increase the number of creatures in the summoned stack.
Since such creatures vanish at the end of battle, there is little reason to try prevent casualties among them. Summoned creatures can be very useful for retaliation fodder, and (after multiple castings) for knocking on an enemy's gate.
The number of creatures summoned by Summoning spells can be influenced by the following items:
- Scarab of Summoning
- Staff of Summoning
- Demonary (Demon summoning spells only)
All summoning spells are named in the form Summon [Creature name].
[edit] Raise Spells
Raise Spells work in a manner identical to Summon Spells, except that Raise spells are restricted in that there must be a unit with creatures to raise. What this means is that you must target either a live unit with dead members, or a completely dead unit stack, and that you are limited in the number of creatures you can produce by the number of fallen creatures from that unit.
If, for example, you have a spell that raises twenty Skeletons per casting, and you cast it on a unit of 30 Mages that once had 40 members, then you will raise ten skeletons (the ten fallen mages will be raised as skeletons). If the other 30 Mages are killed, then you can cast the spell on the unit again, and get twenty more skeletons, and even once more to get the last ten.
The Necromancy Ward spell will prevent you from raising any creatures at all for the rest of the battle - unless you start removing it from stacks you want to raise.
The spells in this category are Death Call, Animate Dead, Raise Skeleton, Raise Ghost and Raise Vampire.
[edit] Illusion Spells
Illusions are like raised and summoned creatures except that they do not have minds (so cannot be affected by Mind Spells, nor can illusions use any innate spell casting abailities that the real versions might have had). They can also be Dispelled and destroyed via Cancellation in addition to being Banished.
There are two spells which make illusions, Create Illusion and Phantom Image
