Castle Slayer is the sixth scenario of the A Strategic Quest campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest. If playing as Lord Slayer, it is omitted. It is followed by Castle Lamanda (if playing as Lord Ironfist or Lord Alamar) or Castle Alamar (if playing as Queen Lamanda).

Strategy[]

The map is split into horizontal thirds. The top third of the map is occupied by the enemy, the middle third is occupied by a stretch of desert, and the bottom third is where you start (SE corner).

There are three items that grant extra mobility - put them on your primary hero (who should be a barbarian for its ability to travel unimpeded across terrain).

The enemy will have a large resource advantage over you (6 bases and one gold mine versus your 3 bases), so build up to your most advanced unit as soon as possible. Once you secure your bottom third, capture everything in the desert. Make sure you buy the genies (18 total), they are incredibly helpful.

The enemy base can only be accessed by a narrow path in the middle of the desert. This is also where enemy heroes will come out and attack you.

Introduction[]

Far to the north, beyond the Trackless Desert, lies the Frozen Wastes. It is the homeland of Lord Slayer and his barbarian followers. Once the mounting pass has been breached by either side, barbarian raiders will stream south. The desert may harbor unknown allies who can aid you. Slayer's castle lies just northeast of the pass.OffBck
